The Hon. Bob Rae, a distinguished Canadian statesman, diplomat and lawyer has served at the highest levels of government and international affairs for more than five decades. He recently concluded a landmark term as Canada’s Ambassador to the United Nations (2020–2025), where he emerged as a leading global voice on several major geopolitical crises.

In the realm of international diplomacy, Rae’s recent leadership was highlighted by his election as President of the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) for the 2024–2025 session. During this time, he also chaired the Advisory Committee on Haiti and was a strong advocate for the principles of international law in relation to conflicts in Ukraine and the Middle East.

Earlier in his public career, Rae served as Premier of Ontario and later as interim leader of the Liberal Party of Canada. Following his time in elected office, he became a prominent advocate for Indigenous rights and constitutional law. Now serving as the Visitor of Massey College and as a fellow at several academic institutions, he continues to contribute actively to Canadian and global policy discussions.
